My boyfriend and I were on a long camping trip in the national forest up here and we were headed home after a lunch at Soda Pops. Unfortunately, the food wasn't exactly what I wanted after five days in the woods. It took our server about ten minutes to get to us and bring us a couple of waters. I'm okay with waiting, but at least give me a nod to know you're slammed and will be over soon. We ordered a chocolate shake to split, though it looked like they had an impressive list of bottled sodas (over 150) we could choose from. The chocolate shake was delicious. We got a couple of sandwiches, the Jerk Chicken and the Farmer's Garden. They were just okay. We shared a cup of fries. Nothing really stood out. Frankly, I have made better sandwiches, and they certainly didn't cost me $30. The decor is great, they have a lot of old fashioned memorabilia from soda shops in the past. It was a really adorable place that needed a serious makeover in the kitchen.

Wow, I came here with my girlfriend and was blown away! Great food, service and selection. This is an absolute MUST-TRY for anybody who is passing through or on vacation. The burger here is one of the best I've ever had with custom toppings. The sodas are wide in variety (100+) and make for great floats :)

Burgers and onion rings to die for! Great fries. And of course, the soda selection. Awesome for kids and fun for adults who like to try new things. One of my favorite places in ER. This place can be VERY busy so be patient!

Always liked this place until we went there this past weekend and the waitress was rude and I ordered soup which I expect to come b4 the meal but it didnt, everyone in our group got their food before me and I had to sit and watch everyone eat for about 10 mins b4 my food came, after I ate about half my food I felt extremely sick. Not happy with this restaurant.

When my family and I go to Wisconsin this is my favorite place to stop. The atmosphere is adorable and their root beer floats are amazing. Such a fun place to hangout at.

Cute spot and fantastic soda selection but this place is just lacking. The food is sub par, we ordered a $5 side of cheese curds thinking it would be enough to share as an appetizer and laughed when the waiter brought out 10 measly curds. The root beer float I had was good, but they didn't have my first choice in stock, a raspberry phosphate. Not to mention the bottled sodas are outrageously expensive- I paid $3 for an orange soda, when I know you can get a twelve pack for $5. They also had a condiment bar- filled with toppings for your sandwich, which seemed more to me like the waiter's job. If I order a burger I want it to come with lettuce and onion, I don't want to have to get up and get it myself. Come here for the floats and the cute decor, pass on the food menu.

Have been here twice. I'd do better going to Trig's and buying my own cold cuts, bread and soda. Nice concept, neat decor, *very* weak on the food.

Very family friendly and a great nostalgic atmosphere with hundreds of different kinds and types of soda along with very good sandwiches and other lunches. They have a great condiment bar to put any kind of topping you might like and the waitstaff are fun and energetic. There can be a wait for a table during the summer at lunch time, but tables turn over pretty quickly. The decor is fun with many signs from the past and other artifacts of a time when soda fountains were common. When you first walk in you see a fully restored and functioning soda fountain - great soda phosphates! Many other sodas in bottles including some still made from cane sugar instead of the common high corn fructose used so much so today. The food is great with an atmosphere to match!

Don't waste your money on this place. Food is processed and cheap quality. Tried to serve me chicken chili that looked like soup- and when I said that the waitress told me it was soup! Not what the menu described. Wait staff hangs around the soda counter drinking beverages and ignoring customers. Had two tables get up and leave due to no one taking their order. Had to get up and ask for our silverware even after asking our waitress when she brought the food. If you like soda then you have a lot to pick from, otherwise find another spot for food. I gave it two tries and we will not be back.

The Chicken Philly Steak is excellent and the onion rings (presented on a soda bottle) are the best! I don't usually care for onion rings, but these are better than the fries. It's a fun, friendly restaurant and a must in Eagle River. My daughter loves the potato soup too!

Great soda selection, but not the greatest food. Except to pay 2.50 for your soda.

Incredible bottled soda selection. Overwhelming really. Food is good too - and we appreciated the novelty of their "top your own" approach (you pick up your entrees from the kitchen and can select your own toppings from the salad bar serving-style of toppings they offer). They layout is a bit cramped though which makes picking up and topping your entree a tough when it's crowded. It also gets really noisy and chaotic fast. We each had a phosphate soda and split the cranberry meatball sandwich which was tasty.

The food is good. However, my favorite thing about this place has probably got to be its soda selection. I have never seen anything like it. Definitely check this place out.

Fun restaurant with good food and you get to do your own toppings. Choosing what to drink from the huge pop collection is tough, though. The root beer selection alone was daunting (in a good way!) so I gave myself up to the mercies of the server and just asked him to pick a random one. Did this twice and was never disappointed!

Best place I've ever been for sodies. Good tacos as well. Don't miss the pepsi, coke, or dr pepper made with real sugar.

I own a restaurant, so I've made it my policy to only write reviews when I have something positive to say. However, in the case of Soda Pops the food was SO disappointing that I will make an exception. I'm hoping that the owner of Soda Pops will read this and take it to heart. First, I'll start with the positive: the decor is fun, the soda list is exceptional, and the waitstaff was fine. I'm assigning this place two stars and not one on this account. The food, however, was criminal. I had the Philly Chicken steak sandwich. It's advertised as tender slices of chicken sauteed with peppers, onions and melted cheese. Not only was the chicken not tender; I couldn't even swear in court that it was chicken. It may have started as chicken, but by the time that it reached the table all of its flavor had been cooked, burned, refrigerated (frozen?), and microwaved out of it. There were obvious burn marks where it had spent too much time on a fry pan or flattop. It resembled carpet spackle. Even worse, it had no flavor and made me feel a little ill. My wife had the 'jerk chicken,' sandwich. I couldn't bring myself to try it. But she described the texture of the chicken as foamy. That's never a good thing. Not only was it inedible, but the portion that she did consume gave her 24 hours of gastro-intestinal consequences that I won't describe here. Furthermore, the chicken had a thin layer of some commercial bbq sauce; while this may constitute jerk chicken in the mind of the owner, it is not. The breads used were beyond awful. Being in the restaurant industry, there was a lot of what I recognize as being the very lowest quality of everything prepared in the very worst way. At this moment you can get much, much better food at Arby's or A&W (as in edible food that tastes good) for about a third as much money. My conclusion is that the owner built his restaurant around his fantastic collection of vintage soda stuff and accepted a bunch of "food service solutions" from Sysco, hired a bunch of teenagers, and then allowed entropy to take over. Seeing as this place is NOT INEXPENSIVE there is no excuse for this. I'd rather eat at my old high school cafeteria. *** Here are some things the owner should change right away: 1. The Food: stop preparing your meats in advance and reheating them. It may save time, be more efficient, etc. but it tastes awful, leads to low repeat customers, and bad reviews on Yelp. At the prices that you're charging, customers have every right to expect fresh food. Even Arby's does a better job. 2. The Menu: Separate the menu from the soda list. Hire an actual graphic designer to lay out your menu. From a typographic standpoint, it's the worst menu that I have ever seen. It's difficult to read and confusing. Make your soda list more descriptive. For me this was the big draw, but when you're presented with a list of unfamiliar soda names, you have no rationale to choose one over another. I was frustrated by this. 3. The Sodas: at $2.75 a pop, it's quite expensive to get any range of experience. What I want is a flight of root beers for $5.95. There are ways of topping bottles while preserving carbonation. Talk to a wine dealer. 4. The Toppings: you may think that you're doing your customers a favor. But you're not. On your menu you refer to yourself as Executive Chef (which I find absurd and insulting to people who actually are chefs), so take responsibility for the flavors in your food. Your customers want to relax and have an experience. Instead there's this moment of anxiety when you pick up your food and then are presented with dozens of condiments and toppings. How should we know what your food tastes like before we've eaten it? (Naturally this presumes that your food becomes worth eating).

Unlike what others have stated, I do not feel this was a "tourist trap". The concept of the restaurant is pretty awesome with a wide selection of food and classic soda beverages. Most people were excited with the vast selection of soda pops that one could choose from but I personally found the condiments bar to be most appealing. I felt like a little kid taking my food up to the bar and putting tons of different options all over it. The service however was the only thing keeping me from giving this place a five star rating. I was most annoyed by the fact that our waitress looked annoyed herself when I simply asked for a water why we decided.

Not impressed. Went at 1:15 hoping the lunch rush had passed. Was crowded & waited to be seated, no biggie. But then sat for over 15+min without acknowledgments or menus. Had to ask for them. Waited another 10 min before asking who our waitress was, she came over about 5 more minutes & we promptly placed order. Have been waiting 20 min for soup, burgers, chicken tenders & fries. Verdict is out on quality of food, but with such slow customer service we won't be trying this place again even if it's good

Except for a amazing selection of sodas this place is the pits. Wait for your food is way too long and it's not impressive. It's strictly a place to go if you want to try flavored soft drinks.

I found myself here for lunch on a weekend afternoon before returning from a camping trip. We wanted a quick bite to eat so that we wouldn't be forced to eat something from a drive thru along the way. It was pretty crowded as it is on the main strip in this area, which is full of shopping and tourist activities. We were quickly seated in one of the smaller booths - but that was the last thing that was quick about this experience. It was clear that our waitress was overwhelmed. She was being pulled in every which direction by hungry patrons and was doing the best that she could. Nonetheless, we waited entirely too long for her to come to our table and take our order. We were considering leaving shortly before she got to us, but some tables had left and she profusely apologized - so we hoped that we wouldn't be waiting much longer. I loved that they had so many soda selections. I am a big beverage person and I always appreciate when there are not so usual choices. They also have a soda fountain where you can get Italian sodas, milkshakes, etc. My food was okay, but nothing sublime. I think I got a burger and fries - it is nice to be able to do your own toppings at the topping bar. I got a milkshake to go which was also delicious. Overall, I'd say come if you have time - but know that it gets busy and the service is slower when that happens.
